Safety & Risk Awareness in Woodworking Classes

At Martin Model Pattern & Woodworking in Scappoose, Oregon, your safety is our top priority. We’re committed to providing a secure and enjoyable learning environment so you can focus on honing your skills with confidence.

1. Equipment Training

All participants receive thorough instruction on using woodworking tools and machinery. We emphasize proper techniques and safety procedures to prevent accidents before any hands-on work begins.

2. Personal Protective Gear

Essential safety gear — including goggles, ear protection, and dust masks — is available in the shop. We recommend obtaining your own gear for the best fit and comfort. All participants are encouraged to wear protective equipment at all times to guard against dust, noise, and potential debris.

3. Supervised Work

Our experienced instructors closely supervise all activities, offering guidance and assistance to ensure safe practices. They are trained to address any safety concerns that arise during class.

4. Safety Protocols

We adhere to strict safety protocols and maintain all equipment to high standards. Regular inspections ensure that every tool and machine in our workshop is in excellent working condition.

5. Emergency Procedures

In the unlikely event of an emergency, we have clear procedures in place and first aid supplies readily available. Our instructors are trained in basic first aid to handle any minor incidents that may occur.

6. Individual Responsibility

While we provide training and supervision, participants are expected to follow all safety instructions and protocols. Your awareness and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to maintaining a safe class environment for everyone.
