Located in Scappoose, Oregon — just 20 miles northwest of Portland — Martin Model Pattern & Woodworking has been a cornerstone of craftsmanship in the Pacific Northwest for over 60 years. Founded by master craftsman Gary Martin, we are passionate about woodworking, teaching, and helping makers of all skill levels discover the joy of building something with their own hands.
Hands-On Woodworking Classes
Our small-group woodworking classes are open to everyone — any age (16+), any gender, any background. Whether you’ve never touched a tool or you’re ready to tackle advanced joinery and custom projects, we have a class for you. Students work in our large, fully equipped workshop under the guidance of expert instructors with decades of real-world experience.

Tools, Supplies & Casting Kits
Our curated shop offers precision woodworking tools, casting sets and kits for home machinists, and unique patterns — both new and vintage. We source equipment that combines the best of historical quality and contemporary performance, so you always have the right tool for the job.
Industrial Pattern Making
Beyond our classes and retail shop, Martin Model has a long history of producing precision industrial patterns for major manufacturers including Boeing, Stanley Tools, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo, Freightliner, and Oshkosh Trucks. Our public works include the Astoria Column staircase and park benches on the Portland Waterfront.
